Need help on this one. How can I kick faster, and jump off of one leg easier? I also can't tuck in the non-kicking leg good enough. |

It looks like you drop your left leg when your right leg goes up for the kick. It probably feels natural that way and it is easier that way because you have the left leg to counterbalance the right leg moving up. However, doing so decreases the amount of time you have in the air.
To keep the left leg tucked in the air, try to bend the left knee as you kick the right leg up. Also, try to squeeze your abs to keep the left leg from dropping down. You may want to try leaning forward slightly to help with the kick. It may also help to lift the left knee some when you bend it.
After the right leg hits the target hand, snap it down as fast as you can (while the left knee is still tucked). If you wanted the professionals, they do that - and if you watch them do it live in person, it is pretty apparent how much power they snap the kick down with.
As for kick speed, work on front stretch kicks while supporting yourself on a roman chair. That way, you won't get used to having the ground there to help you get the power to kick with. _________________ Maximize your potential with

You probably pointed your right foot when you snapped it down, and you weren't high enough to unpoint your foot. How about working on snapping your kicking leg down with the left leg down. That way, in case you aren't high enough, you'll still land on your left leg which will provide support, so you don't smash your toes again. And you'll still get to work on increasing the speed of the R leg snap down. _________________ Maximize your potential with

yeah, just try to suck up as much as you can and go to crane stance (the pointy toe thingy) as soon as your foot goes past head head height as you land with your kicking foot, trying and do it as fluid as possible. also your horse stance tuck your bum in a bit more, it'll condition your leg strength and be better in the long run, excellent attempt though well done. _________________ he who speaks does not know, he who knows does not speak |
